The Pearl

I've fallen in love with pearls in general since the minute I was introduced to it. Unlike other sparkly rocky gemstones, pearls just humbly attract my attention to its perfect luster and the unique shape (baroque pearls!)  Here is the basic pearl knowledge brought to you by SunJewel... Pearl is the only gemstone that is formed and found within a living creature, it's called a mollusk. The most comment place we know is in an oyster, but also could be in a mussel or a snail. It produces layers of nacre around some irritant in its shell, in other words, pearl is formed when something is hurting the mantle tissue, it could be a sand or parasite penetrates lodges inside the shell. The pearl starts forming when the irritant occurs...

How to stay gold

When you purchase a piece of gold jewelry, it could be overwhelming just reading the description,14k, 18k, or any k gold plated, gold filled or vermeil gold... what does all that mean? Here is your basic gold knowledge brought to you by SunJewel... Gold plated, the base metal could be any metal, brass, copper or steel and coated with a gold layer. Varying levels of purity (as in 10k, 14k, 18k) will result a variety of thicknesses for the gold coating. FREE MASK FOR ALL!

I still remember is was a Friday the 13th, Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti announced 'shelter in place' order and urged citizens to practice social distancing. Later on, covering faces in public became mandatory. I assumed when the world reopens, wearing mask is (going to be) the new norm... I want to keep it short about the massive shortage of supplies nationwide for covid-19 frontline workers, and how this pandemic impacts our daily life. Yes mask! I never thought of a mask would be as important as it is today. We won't be able to leave our house without it anymore (along with the phone, car key and wallet). I am making reusable face mask. It is 100% cotton woven fabric with a filter pocket, you can insert a filter/ surgical mask/ multiple layers...

Oh-ray-lee!✨

Aurelie's first debuted at the pop up event, Market Market at ROW DTLA, in early March. It was the most loved and popular item of day. I wasn't surprised that it had gotten so much attention while there are so many other pieces on the table, because it's cute, like really really lovely. Aurelie is pronounced as oh-ray-lee, meaning golden, like how it was born 💛 It's pastel push back earrings, linked with a (slightly) grey pearl and ended with a triangle charm. Coronavirus (COVID-19) 🚫 Popups postponed

SOS Alert! 🆘🆘🆘 It is a strange time for the millennials... (who, me?!) Earlier this week California called for ban large events/ mass gatherings to slow spread of coronavirus. Schools are closed and people started working from home - we are 100% responsible for the social distance now. With that said, my next two popups are for sure TBD.  What are you going to do during this time at home? Maybe I will try to learn a new skill and make more earrings? I made this graphic (☝🏼) the other day just for fun and now kind of obsessed with these (I'd love to give credit for the original art if anyone knows where this was from... I screenshot from Pinterest)  Annnnd here...
